As of last week, the leading torrent site “thepiratebay.com” has announced a grand plan: taking it’s servers into the air and over international waters. As you may know, megaupload.com has been closed down by the government due to it’s excessive violation of copyrighted information (movies, music programs etc).Well, the next website that seems to be in such a predicament is thepiratebaycom. Why? Because the pirate bay has been hosting files for illegal content much in the same way that megaupload has (for almost a decade). Now, that the government has finally begun cracking down on copyright infringements, thepiratebay.com seems worried. The leaders and developers of thepiratebay.com have already served prison sentences and have paid fines for their illegal activities. Naturally, they though about the whole “freedom of the sea” agreement created after world war one. The end result was simple: since the pirate bay is a multi BILLION dollar website, they can afford unmanned drones (which by the way have been developed by various non-military companies in the US for 7 years) . What will they do with the unmanned drones? Why thepiratebay.com will simply attach their servers to the drones and let them hover over international waters! This would put them out of the jurisdiction of any country and would basically make them legal forms of getting illegal content. It does sound absurd, but the supposed “solar powered” drone is being developed as we speak. This can truly be called “the ultimate loophole” in the modern world. After all, how can it be illegal to perform illegal data transfers in international waters?Where no country has jurisdiction? Who could do anything about it? The simple answer is NOBODY. This would also make the shadow business of software, music and video piracy very legal on thepiratebay.com’s side!
